Florida - Heaven on Earth.

Florida - what is there not to love about this state?

Get up in the morning (we hope) and you enjoy a view to remember. Palm trees, sunny skies, chirping birds and an occasional alligator sunning himself in 90 degrees weather near your pond!

Yes, we do have our share of high winds otherwise known as a tornado, but what the heck, that is why we pay those high insurance rates and live on homes that not even wolf can knock down.

Yes, our housing market has taken a downward turn like a roller coaster, but look at the bright side, your property taxes have or should be dwindling down as well. Your recent vote on the property tax amendment guarantees you an average property tax saving of about $248 annually, but your county services will go down ten fold that amount for years to come.

Well, there is your Florida math for you. Your ever- happy governor and local politicians forgot to tell you the real good news. There wasn't any good news to report. It was just a Trojan horse in disguise.

Heaven on Earth Florida once again comes to the political life by jumping the gun on the primary schedule in 2008. We go an spend close to $17 to $20 million on voting and the results are negated by the National Democratic Committee. The voting chad incident was not sufficient in 2000. But once again, we do have the sunshine to keep us smiling.

Finally, what other neighborhood in the nation has a Publix supermarket and a Starbucks coffee shop within walking distance from each other. Not even the BIG APPLE - New York or shaky ground California or even flag town Washington, D.C.

Yes, the sunshine state of Florida offers everyone a slice of Heaven on Earth.

Haibi,
Great entry. Can't wait to hear your take on the 7 1/2 habits, how we can use blogging in libraries and how you view technology.
